Tapia, caña brava y doscientos años de gobierno Adobe, cane thatch and two centuries of government
La casona ocupa el centro de Mérida y forma parte del patrimonio histórico cultural, declarada de valor arquitectónico y urbanístico. Es una edificación de estilo colonial republicano, repartida en salones grandes y pequeños, con paredes de tapia y techos de caña brava. The mansion sits in the center of Mérida and forms part of the historical and cultural heritage, declared of architectural and urban value. It is a republican colonial building, laid out in large and small halls, with adobe walls and cane thatch roofs.
Después de los Gabaldón, la propiedad pasó a la familia Paoli, y sus últimos dueños fueron los descendientes del Dr. Francisco Valeri. En 1990 la adquirió la Gobernación del Estado bajo el mandato del Dr. Jesús Rondón Nucete, y la restauraron arquitectos de la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Los Andes. After the Gabaldón family, the property passed to the Paoli family, and its last owners were the descendants of Dr. Francisco Valeri. In 1990 it was acquired by the State Governorship under Dr. Jesús Rondón Nucete, and restored by architects from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of the Andes.

Upon entering, on the left, hang the portraits of the governors of the Province of Mérida (1810 to 1868) and of the State of Mérida, from 1942 to today.

El salón más grande reúne los retratos de los Presidentes de Venezuela desde 1830 hasta 2008, pintados por Alejandro Alcega Herrera. Aquí se celebran los actos formales de la Gobernación. The largest hall gathers the portraits of the Presidents of Venezuela from 1830 to 2008, painted by Alejandro Alcega Herrera. Formal events of the Governorship take place here.

Academia de Mérida y Biblioteca José Vicente Nucete Mérida Academy and José Vicente Nucete Library
La casa alberga la sede de la Academia y su biblioteca, un fondo abierto a investigadores e historiadores que estudian la memoria del estado y del país. Las sesiones solemnes se celebran en el Salón de los Presidentes. The house holds the seat of the Academy and its library, a collection open to researchers and historians studying the memory of the state and the country. Solemn sessions take place in the Hall of the Presidents.
Actos protocolares, recitales y conciertos Protocol events, recitals and concerts
Como Sede Protocolar de la Gobernación, la casa recibe actos formales y encuentros solemnes. El piano de cola del Salón de la Merideñidad sigue en uso para recitales y conciertos. As Protocol Headquarters of the Governorship, the house hosts formal ceremonies and solemn gatherings. The grand piano of the Hall of Merideñidad remains in use for recitals and concerts.
